The third annual Outside Lands Festival is this weekend: 72 bands, 51 local restaurants, 30 wineries, and an expected 100,000 plus festival-goers. And while we are excited about the festival activities and bands once we get there, it’s the getting there part that concerns us.

Outside Lands Traffic

Traffic and transportation, coming and going to the festival, has been famously horrific with hours wasted while waiting. The attractions of the festival, which this year include sets by MGMT, the Decemberists, and the Shins, as well as Girl Talk and Phish, have the Reset team pretty excited; it appears SFMTA and Muni are trying to step up their transportation game this year.

Starting Friday and running through Sunday, the SFMTA will be working to offer supplemental transportation, at specific hours, on the N Judah (one of our personal favorite lines here at Reset) the 71 Haight Noriega, and the 5 Fulton to and from Golden Gate Park. You can find details on specific times for the increased service on each line online.

Or if you want to circumvent Muni altogether the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is offering free valet bike parking for Outside Land attendees all weekend.

Have fun, enjoy the music and share your story with Reset – tell us about your Outside Lands transit experience and about your favorite performance.
