Volunteer Power
Since some parents are unable to afford tutoring that non-profits are forced to charge, school should create a system of parent volunteers. Though unprofessional, knowledgeable parents could provide basic skills in helping with a topic or program. Parents, such as a chemical engineer, could devote an hour or two to helping a handful of youths basic calculations over finding molarity of a solution. While journalists, or even amateur novelists, can assess grammar with others. The problem--of course--lies with the power of volunteers. Can we call for community action?
