Sugar Beets and Monsanto

A US Judge has banned the planting of genetically modified sugar beets being sold by biotech giant Monsanto:

Monsanto's strategies have always been questionable, but what's the deal with selling Roundup and using the genetic code to make plants immune to Roundup? Talk about covering your bases. Sell poison, then make a killing by selling the cure too.

I was surprised to see that 95% of sugar beet plants in use already have the Roundup immunity gene. Seems like quite a transitional process if these seeds are now banned.
