You can obtain copies of birth certificates from the San Francisco Office of Vital Records either by mail or in person at the Department of Vital Records. In addition to the individual listed on the birth certificate, parents or legal guardians may obtain copies of a birth certificate. Attorneys, adoption agencies, and law enforcement may also be able to obtain copies.
