You can request an investigation of a health code violation by calling 311, visiting the customer service center website at www.sf311.org, e-mailing a service request to [email protected], or contacting the San Francisco Department of Public Health at 415-252-3800.

San Francisco's Department of Health’s environmental inspectors are responsible for investigating and enforcing the San Francisco health laws. Health Code violations in San Francisco include:

  • second hand smoke air pollution from
  • contaminated water
  • garbage and refuse
  • chemical hazards like lead, asbestos, pesticides
  • mold and other indoor allergens
  • pests and disease carriers like mice, rats, mosquitoes, birds, and bedbugs
  • unsafe food
