The Assessor-Recorder’s office will mail your marriage certificate copies 4-6 weeks after they receive your request.

The Assessor’s Office will expedite copies for exceptions when a limited time period requires the copy on an expedited basis.

These exceptions include immigration issues and travel outside of the U.S. The Assessor’s office will also rush copies if there are other issues that create an undue hardship should the marriage certificate not be received on an expedited basis. Please note the Assessor’s office does not consider the desire to change your name an undue hardship.
