The American Red Cross and the Federal Emergency Management Agency created a list of items that every family should include in its emergency kit supplies. Items include:

  • First aid kit
  • Canned food and can opener
  • At least 3 gallons of water per person
  • Battery-powered radio and flashlight
  • Weather-proofed clothing and jackets
  • A crowbar

You can see the complete list of emergency supply kit items on the Earthquake and Hazards Program website.
