How do I restore my right to vote in San Francisco if I have been convicted of a felony?
To restore your right to vote in San Francisco after being convicted of a felony, you need to complete and return a voter registration form to the San Francisco Department of Elections. You need to register at least 15 days before an election to vote in that election. If you have been convicted of a felony, you can still register to vote in San Francisco if you:
- Have completed your prison term for a felony, including parole
- Are on federal or state probation.
- Are incarcerated in county jail as part of felony probation or because of a misdemeanor sentence.
When registering to vote you will need to provide a California driver's license or California identification number. If you do not have either one, you will need to provide the last four digits of your Social Security number. You can get a voter registration from:
- Call (415) 554-4375 to have one mailed to you.
- The California Secretary of State's website the Department of Elections
- the Department of Motor Vehicles, or at public libraries and post offices throughout San Francisco.
