Located in the City’s southeastern section, the Bayview is perhaps best known as the home to Candlestick Park. Bounded by Interstate 280, Highway 101 and the San Francisco Bay, the Bayview also encompasses Hunters Point and the site of the old Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.

Nearly 60% of the Bayview is comprised of American Americans – the highest concentration in San Francisco. Though urban renewal and the closure of the shipyard brought a high rate of poverty and crime to the Bayview, new development is set to take place that will add over 10,000 new residential units, an artists’ village, nearly 400 acres of open space and almost 4 million square feet of commercial and retail space.
