Without a doubt one of San Francisco’s primary tourist destinations, Fisherman’s Wharf provides some of the best views and best seafood in San Francisco. Despite the fact that Fisherman’s Wharf – in its current state – wasn’t built until the late 1960s, it still manages to attract millions of people per year. From the readily available Dungeness crab and clam chowder in bread bowls to its proximity to Ghirardelli Square and Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf is a San Francisco landmark unlike many others.

Fisherman’s Wharf played a large role in the growth of San Francisco as miners during the Gold Rush and Italian immigrants began fishing here and continued to do so for many years. Even though the area is much more of a tourist attraction today, many fisherman continue to use the Wharf for its original purpose.
