94134 Visitacion Valley
Situated in the southeastern portion of San Francisco, Visitacion Valley is a mostly working-class neighborhood that was originally populated by the Irish and Italian immigrants who came to San Francisco to work in the factories. When the nearby Hunters Point Naval Shipyard was built during World War II, a large amount of African Americans came to the area to work at the shipyard. Today the area remains about 30% African American but is also made up of Chinese immigrants who comprise about half the population. Because of its location, some of Visitaction Valley’s streets sit right on the border of Daly City.
