Our guide to getting the most out of Outside Lands 2016

This year’s Outside Lands festival is shaping up to what should be a spectacular weekend for all of the lucky festival goers who managed to snag a ticket to the now sold out 3-day festival.

Attracting a crowd of around 210,000 people to Golden Gate Park each year, this year’s festival has something for everyone. Aside from a solid list of headliners and other amazing artists, Outside Lands will feature a full comedy lineup at their Improv and Comedy tent, The Barbary, as well as comprehensive food, wine and beer options making Outside Lands so much more than a music festival.

There are a few changes to the festival this year that attendees should be aware of: Cashless wristbands and a new bag policy. Outside Lands will be using RFID-enabled wristbands and cashless payment technology throughout the entire festival to facilitate a smoother experience. All food, beverage, and official festival merchandise stands will accept cashless payments, as well as cash and credit cards. Wine Lands and Cocktail Magic will be cashless zones and will accept wristband payments only. Users who register their wristband and sign up for a cashless account before August 5th will enjoy an extra $5 added to their account by Outside Lands for every $75 dollars they add.

Outside Lands is requesting that festival goers bring clear bags, or no bags, when attending the festival this year and there will be an expedited entrance line for those carrying no bag or clear bags. A detailed list of items that are either allowed or prohibited at the festival can be found here.

For transportation, festival goers should consider using public transportation as parking will be scarce and expensive around the park. SFMTA is increasing its 5/5R and N Judah lines to and from the park, along with providing taxi and bicycle stands.
