What Would You #AskObama?
By: Alyssa Sittig
Here’s a question you may never have thought to ponder: what would you tweet to the President of the United States?
Well, start brainstorming… Today at 11am PST, the White House and President Obama are hosting the first ever Twitter Town Hall on jobs and the economy. Using #AskObama, participants can submit questions via Twitter (so no rambling!) and watch the President’s answers streamed online in real-time.
Follow the conversation here: http://askobama.twitter.com
You can even follow President Obama’s staff Tweet Feed @BarackObama. And sometimes, the President even tweets for himself.
Obama’s first (and only) tweet:

“Being a father is sometimes my hardest but always my most rewarding job. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. –BO”
We commend you, President Obama, for yet again highlighting Government 2.0. But as you open up your administration to the Twitterverse, we hope you hear and respond to the hard 140 characters along with the easy ones.
Gov 2.0 is about more than making it easier for you to talk to us. It is best when it makes it possible for us to talk to you – hard questions and all.
Are you listening, San Francisco City Hall?

UPDATE: House Reps Twitter Bomb Obama's Town Hall
The point of Gov 2.0 is to get citizens involved in the conversation. But when a few bad apples (many of whom are our House Republican Representatives) crowd citizens out of the discussion, we all lose.
House Republicans have been 'twitter bombing' the Town Hall with questions like 'when are you going to admit the stimulus is a failure?' (thank you, Boehner).
When are the political games going to stop, so everyday Americans can engage in a real conversation about our economy and our jobs?

Twitter Bombs Distract from Gov 2.0
So true Alyssa. It is really unfortunate, although not surprising, that the Town Hall has come to this. These disruptions distract from the Gov 2.0 message.
