NeighborGoods 2.0

By: Jessica Marquez (jessica@neighborgoods.net)

Saving money and meeting your neighbors never looked as cool as it does with NeighborGoods. The social sharing site helps connect people with their neighbors and the stuff they need. Need a ladder? Borrow it from your neighbor. Have a bike collecting dust in your closet? Lend it out and make a new friend. By sharing with your neighbors, you can save money, while reducing waste and strengthening your local community in the process.

Best of all, NeighborGoods provides all the tools you need to share safely and confidently in a trusted local network. Since we launched nationally almost one year ago, NeighborGoods has accumulated over $3 million in inventory on the site and facilitated thousands of transactions. Following the success of our Kickstarter campaign, we are proud to announce the latest version of the site with lots of new goodies.

NeighborGoods 2.0 is all about groups and better connecting you with the people in your community.

New location technology makes it easier for members to customize their location and find stuff nearby. Neighborhood information from Zillow.com has also been added for our three most active cities: Los Angeles, New York, and of course San Francisco! Members in these areas will be able to join their neighborhood sharing groups as a way to discover even more people and stuff nearby. We are working with organizations of all sizes to create private sharing groups.

You can create your own group where you can share privately and post messages for your neighbors, co-workers, or friends for as little as $6/month. On a larger scale we are working with apartment complexes, homeowners’ associations, corporations and cities to create sponsored groups as a benefit for their members.

You can contact us to learn more about our enterprise edition. NeighborGoods has made it easy to borrow the stuff you want and save the money you need. Our simple search tools and features like the wishlist, which allows you to let your neighbors know what you need if no one has added it yet, ensure that you find what you’re looking for.

With NeighborGoods saving money, living more sustainably, and strengthening your local community as never been easier. And after you sign up be sure to join the Reset San Francisco group to connect with fellow readers! Happy sharing!
