The city has recently approved of a program to have official escorts from Muni accompany people on their way home. I think this is a great idea to decrease the violence in the Bayview and Visitacion Valley neighborhoods.

Private Funding to Extend MUNI Ambassador Program

http://sfappeal.com/alley/2010/08/city-seeks-private-funding-to-extend-m...

According to this article, the city will be looking for more private and foundation funding.

"Pon said the city would be seeking private and foundation funding for a longer-term or permanent ambassador program after the pilot program ends in mid-September."

This program is definitely a great way to decrease violence in the city. If only they had this for the Bart parking lots...

Can't we all be Ambassadors?

Isn't it about all of us taking responsibility?

I'm not really sure what you

I'm not really sure what you mean by us all being ambassadors. This project is for people who feel unsafe on their walks home from Muni bus stops to be able to call an "ambassador" to escort them home. Unless everyone is willing to give out their phone numbers and have people call them during the night to escort them home, I'm not sure how we can all volunteer to do this.
