How can I get a San Francisco City ID Card?
The city of San Francisco offers residents a City photo ID card, which can be used to prove residency in the city, access certain San Francisco programs and encourage support of local business. In 2007, the Board of Supervisors authorized the County Clerk’s office to issue SF City ID cards, and they were launched in January 2009.
To get a San Francisco City ID card, you need to make an appointment with the County Clerk’s office by using its online appointment system or calling 415-701-2311. One appointment per applicant. Your appointment will take place at:
San Francisco City Hall, Room 82
1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place
San Francisco, CA 94102
You will fill out an application depending on your age, and need to prove your residency in San Francisco. Next you will get your photo taken, pay a fee and be issued your SF City ID card upon departure. The process typically takes 20 minutes.
