Free Bus Loops are a great way to encourage tourism and other spending in our city. The money that MUNI will be losing will be offset by the increase in other parts of SF. For example, we should have free loops that go to museums throughout the city such as De Young/Academy of Sciences and SF MoMA. The hope is that this would encourage traffic of the museums and decrease traffic from cars. Also, loops to the Ferry Building, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Union Square/Powell will stimulate shopping and participation in other cultural activities that will be beneficial to San Francisco as a tourist destination.
