If it seems that you’re waiting longer for Muni buses these days, only to see three on the same line pull up at once, you’re not just having a bad luck. According to the SFMTA, service delays and “clusters” are part of the norm.

We at Reset like to keep readers abreast of what is happening with Muni – the good, the bad and the ugly. Unfortunately, new numbers from SFMTA show that these days it is mainly bad and ugly and worse – when it comes to Muni’s on-time and efficiency performances.

Buses in August supposedly ran as scheduled a paltry 57 percent of the time – down 6 percent from March – while “bunches” and “gaps” along Muni routes increased by as much as 20 percent in the same period. All this makes for a slower, less predictable and ultimately more frustrating experience for Muni riders.

On-Time Performance Down 6% In Just The Last Six Months?!

“Passengers are just generally frustrated and fed up with the system,” said passenger advocate Ben Kaufman, speaking to the SF Examiner. “It’s going to take a bold vision and a lot of political will to make the changes that will lead to more efficient transit in this city.”

Agreed – but when will this bold leadership emerge? There’s been a lot of talk, but it seems like we’re still waiting for action. SFMTA is giving San Franciscans the opportunity to weigh in on what they think is going wrong and how to fix it. Their customer satisfaction survey seeks feedback on riding habits from residents, and has a form where riders can offer observations, comments and suggestions. It doesn’t take long, and it’s the most direct way for you to have a say.

They’re asking for your feedback, and hopefully they will listen. Learn how you can help Reset Muni today by taking the survey!
