Here's what you need to know to decide how to vote on San Francisco's Proposition B.

ICYMI: the 2016 election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, with early voting kicking off at San Francisco’s City Hall on Tuesday, October 11.

In addition to voting for officials at the local, state, and national level, San Franciscans will face a decision on 17 state ballot initiatives and 25 local propositions.

What Is Prop B?

Prop B would allow City College of San Francisco to increase its annual parcel tax by $20 to $99/parcel for the next 15 years, which would be subject to yearly audits and oversight by citizens.

The funds would be used:

  • to offset cuts in state funding
  • prevent layoffs
  • ensure affordable education for students
  • maintain core classes in writing, math, and science
  • help prepare students to enter four-year universities
  • provide training for careers in nursing and engineering/technology
  • fund counselors
  • ensure college libraries remain open

Who Supports Prop B?

Key supporters of Proposition B include: the CCSF Board of Trustees.

Supporters argue that Prop B would offset state budget cuts and provide stable local funding for critical services provided by City College.

Who Opposes Prop B?

No official opposition has been submitted to Proposition B.
