Reset San Francisco is excited to announce the return of our popular Ask an Expert series. Next Thursday, May 12, Jeanine Cotter, CEO of Luminalt, will join Phil Ting for a discussion about the future of solar in San Francisco and the importance of preserving our local solar incentive programs.

RSVP and spread the word on Facebook here.

Our experts have extensive experience in the solar industry and unique knowledge of San Francisco’s solar programs. We anticipate the conversation covering a range of exciting solar topics including: GoSolarSF and other solar incentive programs, green jobs, the green tech industry and much more.

San Francisco has traditionally led the way in embracing clean energy and green technology – and never more so than with the city’s wildly successful GoSolarSF program which has helped quadruple the number of solar roofs in San Francisco.

The GoSolarSF program has already created 5MW of clean solar power right here in the city, has helped create new green jobs and has attracted nearly a dozen new solar companies to San Francisco.

San Francisco Solar Programs in Danger

One would think that such a successful program would all but guarantee the funding to continue making San Francisco the greenest city in the country. However, GoSolarSF is in danger of losing much of its funding.

A discussion about the role of solar in San Francisco has never been more necessary. Just last month, a study from the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab showed that homes with rooftop solar panels sell for a substantial premium to non-solar homes. The study underscores the great financial benefit of investing in solar panels for your home, concluding that the typical return on investment was about $5.50 per watt of solar installed or about $17,000 in additional value on the sale of a home.

Phil Ting, who is the co-founder of the San Francisco Solar Task Force, and the experts will be answering your questions live during the webcast. So start thinking about what solar question you want answered.
