Join Assemblymember Phil Ting at an informational hearing of the State Assembly Judiciary Committee to discuss workers’ rights at religious employers.

When: Thursday, July 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Where: The Milton Marks Auditorium, 455 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco 94102

In 2012, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that religious employers have wide latitude in how they treat their workers given the “ministerial exception” from anti-discrimination laws. This exception has been a central issue with teachers at four Bay Area high schools administered by the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

The hearing will include testimony from a variety of perspectives and include an opportunity for public comment. Assemblymember Ting hopes to improve our understanding of how these issues impact local students and schools. For more information or to RSVP, please visit Assemblymember Ting’s website. Please join us for this very important discussion.
