Yes, the Golden Gate Bridge charged a toll for pedestrians from May 1937 to December 1970. The toll was collected using a coin turnstile along the sidewalk near the bridge. The pedestrian toll was eliminated by a Board of Director Resolution No. 7159, on December 15, 1970.
