There are several ways to get a copy of your marriage certificate in San Francisco. You can request a copy in person at the Assessor’s office, by mail, over the phone or via the Internet.

To submit a request in the mail, you need to first download a copy of the Application for Certified Copy of a Marriage Certificate, complete the application and have it notarized. Then send the application and a check for $14.00 (for each copy requested) payable to the San Francisco Assessor-Recorder to 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, City Hall, Room 190, San Francisco, CA 94102.

Your request must include the first and last name of the couple. For the bride, you will need to list the first name and maiden last name and date of marriage. Also, you will need to include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
