The San Francisco City Clerk’s office requires you to prove your residency in San Francisco before you are eligible for a SF City ID card. There are a variety of ways to appropriately prove your residency in the city, but the requirements are strict.

The City and County of San Francisco provides a complete list of acceptable Identity and Residency Documents, which you should consult prior to going in for your appointment. Without the proper proof of residency, you cannot receive a SF City ID card.
