San Francisco residents are eligible to purchase a residential parking permit if they live in Residential Permit Parking (RPP) area. The easiest way to determine if you live in a RPP area is to check for residential permit parking signs on your block. The SFMTA also has a map of RPP areas online, which you can view here.

You can also call (415) 701-3000 to check if your address is eligible for a permit.

If your block is not a residential parking permit area, you can petition to still obtain a permit through a legislative process that takes around six months.
