To renew a fictitious business name, you need to complete the Fictitious Business Name application. This is the same form as when you first filed. You may download the application for Fictitious Business Name Forms online.

If your current Business Registration Certificate is not consistent with the information on your fictitious business name statement you will need to go to the Tax Collector's office at City Hall, to update your records.

You can submit the Fictitious Business Name in person at the County Clerk’s Office along with payment fees. Fees can be paid by preprinted check or money order and debit cards. You can also submit your Fictitious Business Name for renewal by mail.

If submitting by mail you will need an original and signed completed Fictitious Business Name form and a photocopy, copy of the current business Tax Registration Certificate, a preprinted check, and a self-addressed stamped envelope. You can mail these to the SF County Clerk located at 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, City Hall, Room 168 in San Francisco, Ca 94102-4678.
